I cannot explain how a painting comes into being.

All I know is that, before the first brushstroke is applied to the canvas, nothing happens for a long time. There is only attention. There is light. There is material. There is time.

That inner movement which has not yet been named. For me, painting is not a search for what I would like to see. Rather, it is an acceptance of what slowly reveals itself. I do not wish to control the picture. Rather, to reach a point where it is no longer I who speak.

Presence dominates.

The painting is an imprint of the observation of a moment. A moment that cannot be possessed. Only experienced. Perhaps the paintings do not tell stories; their very birth is the story. Their presence is anticipation.

Nem tudom elmondani, hogyan születik meg egy festmény.

Csak azt tudom, hogy mielőtt az első ecsetvonás a vászonra kerülne, hosszú ideig nem történik semmi. Csak figyelem van. Fény van. Anyag van. Idő van.

Arra a belső mozgásra, amelynek még nincs neve. A festészet számomra nem annak a keresése, amit látni szeretnék. Sokkal inkább annak elfogadása, ami lassan megmutatja önmagát. Nem irányítani akarom a képet. Hanem eljutni oda, ahol már nem én beszélek.

A jelenlét dominál.

A festmény a pillanat megfigyelésének lenyomata. Egy pillanaté, amelyet nem lehet birtokolni. Csak átélni. A képek talán nem mondanak el történeteket, maga a születésük a történet. Jelenlétük a várakozás.
